music legends logo The Bluegrass Mountaineers "Cooler Than Country" (1995)

This video was taped during a live performance at a small bluegrass festival in Leslie, Michigan. Four groups from that festival were chosen to represent the many styles being performed by Bluegrass groups across America today. (See the Collection). The Bluegrass Mountaineers represent the honest, hardworking, traditional music so well loved by bluegrass fans across the country.

Edward Efaw serves as the band's guitar player, lead and bass vocalist. He was born in Mannington, West Virginia and formed the band in the early sixties. The group's performance of two of his original songs are outstanding. Larry Efaw's vocals and mandolin playing bring each song to life with his own unique style. Chris Smith on banjo and vocals, Carrie Hershberger on bass, and Billy Borton on fiddle provide the same level of musicianship that distinguishes this group and makes them "The Bluegrass Mountaineers.
